The Study Foundation of the Berlin House of Representatives sponsors a scholarship program for young scholars of all fields. The program is directed to applicants from the USA, Great Britain, France and the former Soviet Union. Applicants should be working on research projects that require a 12 months stay in Berlin.
Undergraduates and graduates receive 770 EUR, postdocs 1,300 EUR per month. The scholarship includes travel costs to and from Berlin and free lodging in the International Study Center Berlin. The maximum age is 35 for postdocs and 25 years for undergraduates.

“Adult Education and Lifelong Learning” journalistic work competition
Highlighting the role of the media and its importance in the formation of public opinion dvv international Branch Office in Armenia is announcing “Adult Education and Lifelong Learning” journalistic work competition.
The objective of the competition is to encourage the dissemination of information on Lifelong Learning and, particularly, on Adult Education among the wider public. Armenian printed and online media employees, independent journalists, as well as students of Armenian HEIs are eligible for the competition.
The materials must have been printed or posted online during the period from December 1, 2011 to December 15th, 2012. The materials can belong to any genre of journalism.
The competitions will proceed in the following categories:
1. Printed article – 100.000 Drams
2. Articles posted online or in blogs – 100.000 Drams
3. Best student work – 100.000 Drams
Special prize will be awarded to one of the contestants. The special prize winner will be given the opportunity to take part in a Conference on Adult Education and Lifelong Learning organized in one of the European countries.
Applications are accepted till December 15th of 2012; the results of the competition will be summed up at the end of December.

Open to: candidates who have or are about to obtain their first degree, young researchers from universities or research institutes
Remuneration: 450 euros
European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) is providing a limited number of internships to candidates who have or are about to obtain their first degree, as well as to young researchers from universities or research institutes.
The main task of interns will be to assist the research team under the supervision of the Research Fellow responsible for the programme. Certain administrative tasks may also be entrusted to interns, although they will not entail more than 15% of the time they spend at the Institute.
Two intakes of interns will run between January-April and May-July (4 months and 3 months respectively) during the first half of 2013. Candidates are kindly requested to state their choice of date (Jan-April or May-July) in the application form.
- Candidates should have a good knowledge of at least one of the Institute’s working languages (French and English).
- Candidates should have or be about to obtain their first degree.
- The Institute does not provide health insurance for interns, who should ensure they are covered by their student medical insurance during their stay in France and be able to show the European Health Insurance Card upon arrival.
- Interns from non-EU countries should also have a valid health insurance card or contract to show on arrival, as well as a valid visa where necessary.
Interns will receive a symbolic stipend of 450 euros. Interns are entitled to one day’s leave per month plus French feast days and public holidays.
The Institute regrets that it cannot pay for travel expenses or accommodation nor can it assist interns in finding accommodation in Paris.

- a covering letter, outlining the reasons for the candidate’s interest in the Institute’s internship programme;

The Society for the Development of Austrian Economics is pleased to announce that submissions for the 2012 Don Lavoie Memorial Graduate Student Essay Competition are now being accepted. Submissions will be accepted from advanced PhD students in economics or other relevant disciplines anywhere in the world. The competition is limited to thesis chapters and/or other research that is geared toward publication in the professional journals; submissions should adhere to appropriate standards of academic writing and should be on a topic relevant to Austrian economics. There is no word limit; and, students submitting papers to this competition will retain all publication rights to their work; however, winners are encouraged to submit their papers to The Review of Austrian Economics for possible publication. Three prizes are given, each worth $1000, to be used to pay expenses to attend the Southern Economic Association meetings this November 16-18, 2012 in New Orleans, LA, where the winners will present their work on a special panel scheduled for 8:00am, Friday, November 16. Prize awards are contingent on attending the SEA meetings and the SDAE’s annual business meeting and awards banquet on Saturday evening, November 17.
