Artsakh 2013 Photography Competition

We are pleased to announce the start of the next AYDC Photography Competition “Artsakh-2013” supported by Russell Pollard, a British photo-journalist and writer.

You can participate in the competition regardless of your age and country, by submitting your photos to the open group “AYDC Photography Competitions” in Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/490828747681570/ from 4 November – 31 December 2013.

There is no limit on the number and topics about Artsakh you can post, but please add a title or a description to your photo.

The top 10 winners will get bonuses and also be included on Russell Pollard’s Photography website as well as his www.artsakh.org.uk FB page.

There will be further competitions throughout 2014 with different themes and these will be announced separately.

European Young Researchers’ Award 2013‏

The European Young Researchers’ Award (EYRA) is granted to researchers demonstrating outstanding research performance and leadership. At the same time, the award aims to inspire early stage and experienced researchers to incorporate a European dimension and perspective into their research.
The Award is granted each year but the prize-giving-ceremony is held every two years at the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF) where the two recipients will present their work.
The Award consists of a Certificate and a grant to cover travel and accommodation for the stay in the ESOF city.
Please note, that the call for 2013 is dedicated to PhD candidates only.
Qualification Criteria
  • The research should be of demonstrably excellent quality (publications, prizes, grants etc.)
  • The research must have a clear European dimension, either because it is a collaboration of researchers in different European countries or it is a research project in one European country that addresses a research topic of European added value.
  • The applicant should have demonstrated independence or/and central role in the research project; should have inspired students working for him as well as colleagues; and should have initiated outreach to wider audiences.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidates should work in a European country, but are not required to have a European nationality.
  • The definition of young researcher in this context is all persons who are enrolled in her/his first PhD at the time of the application deadline. Young researchers who have obtained their PhD after 30 September 2012 are also eligible.
  • The application should be in English.
Application procedure and documentation
  • Cover page form (Windows Word version) or cover page form (pdf version)  to be downloaded, completed and included in the application as cover page is available on the ES website
  • Up to two pages A4 describing the research and its European dimension (attached document or in mail body)
  • Maximum of two pages CV including statement of prizes/awards already received. (attached document)
  • A list of publications (attached document)
The above mentioned documents should be preferably included in a single pdf-file. In addition candidates must supply two letters in support of the nomination, each of no more than two pages A4:
  • describing why the candidate as a person deserves this award (leadership, inspirational role, outreach to wider audiences),
  • commenting on  the quality and relevance of the specific research and the publications, o mentioning any specific circumstances that would make the award particularly appropriate.
These two letters should be from individuals well qualified in the field, at least one of whom not associated with the research itself.
Applications which do not meet eligibility criteria or do not respect the application procedure in particular the length of documents will NOT BE ACCEPTED.
An international selection Committee will evaluate the applications and select the Awardee.

British Film Best Review Competition in Armenia

Within the framework of the 11th Edition of the British Film Festival, we announce a competition for the brightest film review.

From 6 to 17 March, 2013 you can write a review on any of the films from the programme of the Festival and receive a chance to win one of our valuable prizes.
The author of the best review will be awarded an Apple iPad 3! Additionally, there will be other prizes!
1. Write a review of a film you liked from the programme of British Film Festival 2013
2. Publish it on www.britfilms.am website relevant section and share the link on your Facebook wall
3. Put the link of your review under this post on the British Council Armenia Facebook page
Please note
Every participant may submit several reviews, but not more than one for each film
Reviews can be submitted either in English or Armenian
There is no word count
Deadline for submissions is 17 March
Entries unrelated to the British Film Festival review competition will not be considered
The contents of reviews are the sole responsibility of the authors and can in no way be taken to reflect the views of the British Council.
The best reviews will be selected by the members of the Armenian Association of Film Critics and Cinema Journalists. The winners of the competition will be announced on 27 March, 2012.

Contest to Create a Symbol Representing Gyumri’s Cultural Heritage

Project Symbol Contest

The RA Ministry of Culture and the Gyumri Municipality are announcing “Gyumri CIS Cultural Capital 2013” project logo contest.

  • The applications are accepted in sketch format which needs to be in color or black and white.
  • The sketch must be provided to the municipality electronically, as well as on 50x60cm cardboard.
  • The design must have a “slogan”.
  • A closed envelope is attached to the design with the same slogan, with its author’s full name, address and the phone number.
  • Presenting the designed logo on different forms is encouraged (envelope, letterhead, advertisement etc.).

The designs will be considered by the commission and the approved version will become the “Gyumri CIS Cultural 2013” project symbol.

The best designs will be awarded with (150,000AMD).

The applications can be submitted to the RA Ministry of Culture or Gyumri Municipality until February 19th, 2013.

ԱՊՀ մշակութային մայրաքաղաք» ծրագրի խորհրդանշանի ընտրության մրցույթ: Հայտերն ընդունվում են էսքիզի տեսքով (և՛ գունավոր, և՛ սև ու սպիտակ)՝ կցելով նաև նշանաբառը: Աշխատանքներն անհրաժեշտ է ներկայացնել էլեկտրոնային կրիչի, ինչպես նաև A4 ֆորմատի չափով ստվարաթղթի վրա: Ներկայացրած աշխատանքին կցվում է փակ ծրար` նույն նշանաբառով, որում պետք է նշված լինի հեղինակի անունը, ազգանունը, հասցեն և հեռախոսահամարները:
Ցանկալի կլինի, եթե էսքիզը ներկայացվի տարբեր նյութերի վրա (ծրար, ձևաթուղթ, գովազդ և այլն): Առաջարկները կքննարկվեն և հավանության արժանացած տարբերակը կընտրվի «Գյումրին՝ 2013 թ. ԱՊՀ մշակութային մայրաքաղաք» ծրագրի խորհրդանշան:

“Adult Education and Lifelong Learning” journalistic work competition

 

Highlighting the role of the media and its importance in the formation of public opinion dvv international Branch Office in Armenia is announcing “Adult Education and Lifelong Learning” journalistic work competition.

 

The objective of the competition is to encourage the dissemination of information on Lifelong Learning and, particularly, on Adult Education among the wider public. Armenian printed and online media employees, independent journalists, as well as students of Armenian HEIs are eligible for the competition.

 

The materials must have been printed or posted online during the period from December 1, 2011 to December 15th, 2012. The materials can belong to any genre of journalism.

 

The competitions will proceed in the following categories:

1. Printed article – 100.000 Drams

2. Articles posted online or in blogs – 100.000 Drams

3. Best student work – 100.000 Drams

 

Special prize will be awarded to one of the contestants. The special prize winner will be given the opportunity to take part in a Conference on Adult Education and Lifelong Learning organized in one of the European countries.

 

Applications are accepted till December 15th of 2012; the results of the competition will be summed up at the end of December.
