Between Hunger and Fire: a Documentary on the Artsakh War and What Happened in Khojali

It’s March and the last 2 weeks have been full of commemorations of the Sumgait, Baku and Marakha pogroms that started the war to independence for the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Artsakh historically. During this period, twitter is once again bursting with “justice for khojali” messages, though surprising not yet as badly as last year, the fire not yet burning so bright and the condemnations not yet as insulting. Even Google shows more toned-down versions of pieces concocted to defame the Armenians.

Last year, I wrote a piece showing my own knowledge on what had occurred. Now, I’d like to share a rather interesting documentary, presenting facts from both sides and telling the story as it happened, why it happened and without the added dramatization the Azerbaijani government loves to adorn the topic with. My prayers go to those who died in the war, no matter if they were Armenian, Azeri or another Turkish minority.
